Room of the week
This week’s room of the week goes to the RAF room located down the corridor of the museum this room was put together by John Nixon and staff and has had a lot of interest from the public. So much interest in fact that there will be a second RAF room to follow which we have already started working on and is in progress.
The room is all about the effort from Millom and Haverigg and their help in World War II. Every piece of information, objects and artefacts are in this room. Read about the experiences of those stationed in Millom from numerous letters, diaries, accounts etc written at that time. Also what life was like at the time. Listen to the spitfire DVD playing in the background. Learn about the role of the Spitfire in the war and listen to the tunes popular at that time.
There are lots to see and look at in this room and nice to see people tracing back and finding out about their family history. John has also recently written a hardback book which is the history of RAF Millom and a fascinating read.
We get a lot of great feedback and comments on all of our different rooms and if you ever want to have a look before you visit just take a look on the website under galleries which explains a little about each room and gives you more of an understanding to know what it’s all about. We have many different fascinating rooms and something for all ages.
